Elkhei means that a set of horse and (chi) is short form of big grass that king's horses eat the grass and rest at here that after was named ELKHECHI . There are different ideas about history of ELKHECHI . Mr. BEHROOZ  KHAMACHI belives that life in this city started of middle of five century when SALJOGIAN enter and sourrend this city Dr. GOLAMHOSEIN SAEDI in a book that was named ELKHECHI 1357 printed about history of ELKHECHI ninth on preface on the same book write they said that before coming REZAKHAN BEIG no body didn't live in ELKHECHI except about ten- fifteen important people had clay houses in said the pool and they brought KHOSROPARVIZ's horses from KHOSROSHAHR to big grass and stay there when the weather got cold and when the snow covered the ground they return to tropical .

the most important agricultural products of small province of Elkhechi are potato, onion and pistachio.
